Easy Crochet Christmas Tree
This is more of a tutorial on how to make a basic triangle shape. Most patterns for Christmas trees that you will see are really just a variation of a triangle. There are many different methods to crochet a triangle. This method just happens to be my personal favorite. All that you have to remember is to increase at the end of each row. You will not be increasing at the beginning and end of each row.
This triangle shape can also be made with different stitches such as single crochet, double crochet etc. The half double crochet is my go-to because it works up quicker than single crochet and it is not as drapey as the double crochet stitch.
Here are the steps:
First, Slip knot, ch 2
Row 1: 2 hdc in the second chain from the hook (this will be the 1st chain you made)
Row 2: ch 1, turn work, hdc in 1st stitch, 2 hdc in 2nd stitch. Stitch count will be (3).
Row 3: ch 1, turn work, hdc in first 2 stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch (4).
Row 4: ch 1, turn work, hdc in first 3 stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch (5).
Row 5: ch 1, turn work, hdc in first 4 stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch (6).
Keep going for as many rows as you desire. Each row will increase by 1 stitch count -all you have to remember is to put 1 hdc in each stitch until the last stitch of the row where you will place 2 hdc’s.
When your tree (or triangle) is as large as you want, fasten off and weave in ends as you normally do.
